About Us

Every individual is unique and with the exception of identical twins, every person has a unique genetic make-up. The very same genetic make-up that makes us unique consists of thousands of genes and parts of genes that were passed down from ancestor to ancestor and play an important role in our biological traits including the way we look. Genes that were passed down through generations also have a major influence on our predisposition to certain medical conditions, however, the study of genealogy does not deal with the medical aspect of inherited genes.

In the recent years, DNA testing has become an important part of genealogical research but it gives exclusively genealogical information by comparing the results of an individual to results of other people in the same lineage or established databases of the so-called surname study groups. Genealogical DNA testing has major potential in the study of family lineage and history, however, it does not tell you who were your ancestors nor through which common ancestor you are related to people whose genealogical DNA test results match to yours. Research of the sources such as birth and death certificates, marriage registers, immigration records, etc. therefore remains the key tool for tracing family lineage and history.

Since tracing family lineage and history is not an easy job if you are not a genealogist or historian, we have decided to create this website with an aim to help you find your ancestors and learn more about your family heritage. We focused on practical aspects of ancestry research, e.g. where to look for information about your ancestors, how to overcome obstacles you may face along the way, etc. as well as how to use the gathered information to trace the people whom you are connected to through a common ancestor. We hope our guides will help you with your family heritage research.
